Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has once again demonstrated its technical prowess and excellence on the international stage, emerging with distinction at the prestigious Africa Tech Challenge (ATC) held at the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya's capital.
The ATC, a platform that continues to harness digital technology for the benefit of African youth, offers rich knowledge in vocational education, free of charge, through the AVIC INTL vocational education online platform. This event saw a remarkable gathering of 83 teams comprising 332 students from nine different countries, including Kenya, Côte d'Ivoire, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. These students enthusiastically participated in two challenging categories: the CNC lathe competition and the mechanical engineering drawing and CAD application design competition.
The CNC lathe competition took place on-site in Kenya, where teams showcased their practical skills, while the mechanical engineering drawing and CAD application design competitions were held online, allowing students to exhibit their creative and technical abilities from their respective countries.
After an intense and hard-fought competition, Kumasi Technical University emerged with distinction, securing an impressive 6th position among the participating teams. The students, guided by their dedicated instructors, proudly presented their well-deserved award to the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh.
Prof. Dwomoh expressed his delight at this remarkable achievement and commended the students and their instructors for their unwavering dedication and outstanding performance. He encouraged them to continue their pursuit of excellence, emphasizing the university's commitment to their progress and development.
Adding another layer of pride to KsTU's achievement, the team leader, Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Amankwaa, received special recognition and honours as the most outstanding team leader in CNC Lathe Machining during the Africa Tech Challenge.
Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye, the University's Registrar, was also present at the ceremony. He congratulated the team on their remarkable accomplishment and offered words of advice, urging them to aim even higher, as a bright future awaits these talented individuals.
