In a heartfelt farewell meeting held at the Council Chamber of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) yesterday, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, and the Senior Management of the University said goodbye to 44 students embarking on various international exchange programmes across Europe and Asia. The countries include Germany, Poland, Turkey and China. The event was at the instance of the International Affairs and Institutional Linkages of Kumasi Technical University (IAIL-KsTU).
The students who were meticulously selected through a highly competitive application process, will be participating in the Erasmus+ exchange mobility programme which provides scholarships to support students’ academic pursuits abroad. While students from Europe will participate in a five-month exchange programme, those heading to China will embark on a two-year academic journey as part of KsTU's collaboration with Chinese institutions. This extended programme offers a deeper cultural and academic experiences that allow students to specialise in their chosen fields. This initiative is part of KsTU's avowed commitment to fostering global perspectives and academic excellence.
The breakdown of students and their respective destinations are Eberswalde University of Sustainable Development (HNEE), Germany - 2 students; Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW), Poland - 6 students ; Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU), Turkey - 3 students ;Cankiri Karatekin University (CAKU), Turkey - 2 students ; Sivas Cumhuriyet University (SCU), Turkey - 2 students ;Rizhao Polytechnic (RZPT), China - 14 students and Weifang Vocational College (WFVC), China - 15 students.
Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh emphasised the success of previous exchange programmes, attributing it to the exemplary conduct of past students who served as ambassadors for the University. He urged the current cohort to follow suit, reminding them that they carry the reputation of KsTU on their shoulders.
"We are confident that you will represent KsTU with utmost dedication and integrity. This exchange programme is not just an opportunity for personal growth but also, a chance to showcase the excellence of our institution on the global stage," Prof. Dwomoh said.
During the meeting, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Abena Obiri-Yeboah encouraged the students to actively promote KsTU while abroad. She emphasised that their actions and achievements would contribute to the University’s international reputation and further open doors for future exchange opportunities.
The Registrar, Mr. Ebenezer Kofi Boakye and the Director of International Affairs, Prof. Sarfo Mensah were also present to provide support and guidance to the students.
This exchange programme exemplifies Kumasi Technical University's commitment to internationalisation and providing students with enriching global experiences. By facilitating cultural exchanges and academic collaborations KsTU empowers its students to become well-rounded individuals and future leaders.
