Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) recently had a successful visit to Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) in Germany. This visit was aimed at strengthening the existing collaboration between the two institutions.

The delegation was led by KsTU's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh. At a meeting with representatives from all departments at HNEE, various discussions that focused on expanding the collaborative efforts in student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives and securing third-party funding for these projects were held.

As a symbol of the growing bond between KsTU and HNEE, the KsTU delegation presented a traditional Ghanaian attire, “smock," to HNEE’s President Prof. Matthias Barth. This type of traditional attire which steeps deep in history and cultural significance, has been worn by the Ghanaian populace for centuries, embodying a rich heritage that transcends time.

The collaborative efforts between KsTU and HNEE have been nurtured over the last six years under the instrumentality of Prof. Dr. Tobias Cremer. Through initiatives such as joint DAAD and Erasmus+ programmes, the partnership has flourished, encompassing realms of research and academic exchange.

Playing a key role in this flourishing partnership is Dr. Addo Koranteng, KsTU's Vice Dean (Office of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages). Dr. Koranteng is a proud alumnus of HNEE and a recipient of the prestigious DAAD award from HNEE. Currently, Dr. Koranteng is giving back to his alma mater by serving as a guest lecturer at HNEE through a DAAD-funded programme in the summer semester of 2024.

The meeting with HNEE marked a significant milestone in the ongoing dialogue between the two institutions, paving the way for further synergies in education, research and innovation. As KsTU’s continuous collaboration with external stakeholders to champion excellence in technical education, partnerships with global counterparts like HNEE underscores its commitment to fostering a dynamic learning environment and expanding the frontiers of knowledge.
