Prof. Dwomoh's journey to assuming the position of Vice-Chancellor has been characterized by a steadfast commitment to academic excellence. Born in Abesim-Sunyani, his ascent in the academic sphere began with a determination to make a lasting impact on higher education. This ambition was ignited when he saw a fellow Ghanaian adorned in the regalia of a distinguished university. Driven by the desire to be part of that esteemed institution, either as a student or a lecturer, he set forth on a remarkable academic journey that has now culminated in his appointment as the Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University.
Hailing from a middle-income household, Prof. Dwomoh held education in high regard, leading to his enrollment at the renowned Opoku Ware Senior High School. His dedication and diligence led to outstanding academic achievements, earning him admission to the University of Cape Coast, where he pursued a Bachelor of Secretaryship degree and graduated with first-class honours. This achievement marked just the beginning of his academic pursuits, as he furthered his studies with a Master of Business Administration (Finance) degree from Lincoln University in the United Kingdom.
Returning to Ghana, Prof. Dwomoh continued his academic journey at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he obtained a second master's degree. His thirst for knowledge and expertise propelled him to the Costa Rica Business School, where he earned his PhD.
Prof. Dwomoh's teaching career commenced at Sunyani Polytechnic, now known as Sunyani Technical University, before joining Kumasi Technical University in 2009. Through unwavering dedication and perseverance, he steadily ascended the academic ranks, now reaching the pinnacle of his career as the Vice-Chancellor. His extensive research portfolio encompasses various domains notably, Expatriate Management, Human Resource Management as well as and Industrial Relations. Noteworthy among his research achievements is the study titled "Knowledge and Skills Gap of Technical Universities in Ghana," which facilitated a transformative workshop for Ghanaian university staff.
As a devoted family man, Prof. Dwomoh is happily married and he is a father of four. In his leisure hours, he finds solace in watching football, particularly supporting Manchester City and watching movies. Offering advice to aspiring young lecturers, he emphasises the value of dedication and perseverance in achieving one's goals.
Prof. Dwomoh's vision has been instrumental in enhancing the international profile of Kumasi Technical University. His prior roles as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Director of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages led to a notable increase in the enrollment of international students. Furthermore, he has held esteemed positions including Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, as well as Director of the Institute of Research, Innovation, and Development.
His membership in international bodies, including the International Research Association, Professionals in Human Resources, and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, underscores his commitment to advancing knowledge and expertise in diverse domains. Prof. Dwomoh's research pursuits encompass a broad spectrum of interests, including Expatriate Management, Industrial Relations, Conflict Management, Performance Management, and Diversity Management.
