A total of 88 Ghanaian tertiary institutions earned a place on the latest rankings, with the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the University of Cape Coast securing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions, respectively.

The ranking methodology evaluates universities based on their Presence (public knowledge shared), Impact (web-contents impact), Openness (top-cited researchers), and Excellence (top-cited papers). The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, an initiative of the prestigious Cybermetrics Lab under the ‘Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas’ (CSIC) in Spain, is a globally recognized ranking system. It evaluates universities based on a composite indicator that takes into account not only the volume of web content but also the visibility and impact of these web publications through external links.
